DTN WEEKLY ROUND UP:  Last week the bulk business took place on Wednesday and 
Thursday, with a little clean up on Friday. Northern dressed deals had a full 
range of $401 to $410, mostly $405, fully steady with the previous week's 
weighted averages. Southern live sales had a range of $255 to $258, mostly 
$256 to $258, $1 lower to $1 higher than the prior week's weighted averages. 
According to Thursday's Daily Direct Slaughter Cattle Negotiated Purchase 
Summary reports the weekly accumulated weighted averages were recorded as: KS 
$257.07($256.95); NE $404.52($405.17); TX $255.68($256.95); IA 
$405.06($405.33). (the prior week's weighted averages are listed in 
parentheses).

The Friday afternoon Daily Direct Slaughter Cattle report lists week-to-date 
trade volume totals as:  KS 6,960; NE 31,193; TX 5,033; IA 20,307. According 
to the Daily Livestock and Poultry Slaughter Report, Friday's slaughter 
totaled 100,000 head, 5,000 less than the prior week and 2,000 below a year 
ago. Saturday's kill was estimated at 5,000 head, bringing the weekly total 
to 533,000 head, 85,000 under the previous week, and down 48,000 from 2025.

The weekly average for boxed beef cutouts and boxed beef cuts: choice 
$393.62(+0.77), select $383.61(-3.48), with an average choice/select spread 
of $10.01(+4.25) a total load count including cuts, trimmings, and grinds was 
505(+0.86), (Changes from the prior week are listed in parentheses).

For the week ending May 30, 2026, Imported Beef Passed for Entry in the U.S. 
totaled 51,894, 91.83% of the previous week and 93.91% of the 4-week average. 

DTN MORNING COMMENTS:  Another slow Monday morning in cash cattle country, as 
both packers and producers are busy taking inventory and preparing for the 
week ahead. Bids and asking prices have yet to be established, and 
significant trade volume will likely be delayed until later in the week. Beef 
cutouts are expected to be mixed with light box movement.
